Travel Expenses: Research

I just looked into the cost of traveling to the Boulder Juggling Festival in June. That's were the 2nd Sean McKinney Freestyle Competition will be held. I wrote about that here on The Jog.

So I discovered that it would take me 19.5 hours to drive from Corvallis, Oregon to Boulder, Colorado according to www.mapquest.com. That's just too much for me to handle.

It costs $247 for a round-trip plane ticket to Denver International Airport from Portland, Oregon. It costs $70 for a bus ticket to Portland. Add to that the cost of food and another cab from the airport in Denver to the festival site, and my estimate is at least $450. Not to mention the cost of entrance to the festival and a hotel room.

For me to earn $450 (after tax) I would have to work 60 hours at $8.50 per hour (which happens to be my current pay).

Will I go? I don't know yet, so stay tuned...
